Tom was a sophomore in 1956. He saw a lot of game action and got to start on Thanksgiving, and scored a touchdown against Quincy.
As was the norm at the time, Tom Played offense (half back) and defense (safety).
Notice Tom is wearing a plexiglass face guard.

Prior to the 1956 Thanksgiving Game, Jack Kelly (NQ’54) sent this letter to his brother Tom. At the time Jack was serving in the U.S. Navy.

Tom was a junior in 1957. He started both ways. He was the only returning starter for NQ.
He scored 3 touchdowns and one extra point for a total of 19 points.

North Quincy 1958 Season

Tom was a senior in 1958 and the centerpiece of the North Quincy offense. He also played safety on defense.
Tom Flanaga and Tom Kelly were the team Co-Captains for the 1958 season.
He changed his jersey number to 66.
Tom was also one of the leading scorers on the South Shore. For the season he had 13 touchdowns and 14 PATs for a total of 92 points. In three different games he scored 3 touchdowns.
At the end of the season he was selected to play in the All-Star Game, along with his teammate Ron Zoia.
Tom and teammates Howie Harding and Tom Flanagan were selected to the Patriot Ledger 1958 Division 1 All-Scholastic Football Team.

Tom played with his older brother Jack at Northeastern University.
Quincy/North Quincy Football Hall of Fame
Tom was inducted in 1988.
